I've needed physical therapy more times than I care to think about these past 7 years. I've gone to a number of PT providers in various locations and I've had varying amounts of success. After my recent hip surgery, I elected to receive PT at North Point Orthopedics, LLC. I was assigned to the PT team of Divya and Scott who are helping me to regain my mobility and strength while proving pain reduction. This is what we expect knowledgeable and caring physical therapist to do for us and they do it well. During my first session with Divya, noticed that I struggle with lymphedema. Divya told me that I could control it by performing various exercises. She showed me what to do, answered all of my questions and started me on the road to a more comfortable life. Don’t make the biggest mistake of your life by letting Dr. Harris perform surgery on you! I had a knee replacement. His office mannerisms do not match his actions after he performs surgery. You will not have the tolerable pain medication ready the day you are released from the hospital so you will suffer. Dr Harris refuses to call that in at least the day before like other doctors and he refuses to call you the day after you come home from surgery. My dentist and vet call and check up after a procedure and I just had major surgery by Dr. Harris! Again, don’t be fooled. Dr Harris hires his staff. They are his responsibility. This is a private practice. He is accountable. His staff from April-August 2023 did not answer the phone nor did they return phone calls, nor did they renew your prescriptions on time. I suffered with withdrawals constantly too. The day after I got home from surgery, the home health care nurse called 10x and I called at least 2x about the medication not being ready. They never returned mine or the nurses phone calls and this was a Friday. Saturday my BP dropped to 59/29. I was forced to recover from knee replacement on acetaminophen and ibuprofen. Can you imagine the pain I was in. On Monday the nurse and her supervisor called Dr Harris 10x each and no return phone call to them or I. Finally Tuesday afternoon, a moderate pain med was called in. 9 days after my surgery, I was left a message that Dr Harris doesn’t call the day after surgery because that’s what the home nurse is for. Ha! They never returned the nurses calls! This pain and suffering slowed down my recovery to which now I needed a manipulation. Dr Harris performed 2 manipulations. On the 2nd manipulation he caused a fracture on my femur. I was in excruciating pain and left a message the next day at 7 PM. Dr. Harris never returned my phone call. I found out about the fracture two days later in an office visit with him. I was in a wheel chair and would continue to be so because this recovery was now for 12 weeks. Now the manipulation was for nothing. I am only in my 50s. I cannot walk up and downstairs and I barely can bend my knee. I need to mention that Dr. Harris knew 7 months prior that I had a severely herniated disc and sciatic pain with numbness down this same leg and knee. I needed a back epidural to recover. Wouldn’t you think Dr. Harris would have made sure that I had healed before recommending knee replacement on that same knee. Plus you need a strong back for knee replacement per the nurse at the hospital after my knee surgery. Don’t let Dr. Harris perform surgery on you.

I was referred to this MD by Cheryl Womack at the village clinic in crown point Indiana. I have been having trouble with my knees for the past 10 years due to a fall at work. For some unexplained reason, late in August of 2023, I began loosing the ability to put any weight on one and then two legs. I had no idea what the problem was and when I tried making an appointment with my orthopedic physician, the earliest appointment I could get was February 2024. My wife had a successful procedure with Dr. McComis a few years ago so she was able to secure an appointment with him 2 1/2 weeks later (mid-September). During the appointment on a Wednesday, he was able to immediately diagnose my problem and asked us to schedule an MRI on the thoracic portion of my spine. The MRI was performed the next day and that same evening (Thursday) he called me at home and told me to go to the hospital the next day (Friday) for surgery on Monday. His concern was that my nerves were so severely compressed that any significant movement of the spine could result in paralysis. So, after 6 1/2 hours of surgery and at least 4 rods and more screws than I can count, I am back to being myself. Here's the amazing part: Dr. McComis had no previous experience with me, knew nothing of my orthopedic history, and despite this he was able to immediately diagnose the problem, and then surgically correct it.

I had been having back problems for a year. Standard procedure from doctor was pain meds and PT and when that didn't work pain management, which also didn't work, Decided to see Dr. McComis after recommendation from a friend and a few nurses. One nurse referred to him as a very talented doctor. He sure was. Took a current MRI (others were using a year old one). Suggested surgery for 2 issues. Yes the back was very sore after surgery. The pain from the nerve was gone immediately. I am 8 weeks post op and I can walk without a cane and have my life back. Dr. McComis certainly is very talented, kind and he made a world of difference. I love Dr. Harris and my son’s experience with him. We had the worst experience with his staff & insurance. I have a balance, because no one told me that they will not bill my son’s 2nd insurance before his 1st visit. We had to purchase a functional cast because the brace he was promised was no longer in inventory. Then we learned that the cast was not covered by his insurance but the brace would’ve been. The cast looked horrible after his first 2 weeks of having it. Very disappointing.

I showed 30 min early !! Thank Goodness!! The nurse only made me wait 5 min!! I had already went and got groceries…they were in the car …my best friend was meeting me at the house to work on my car …so I went directly home …we have a HUGE saltwater fish tank …and the temperature controller was beeping so I put groceries away quickly and went to go turn off the beeping and that’s when one of the plugs started an electrical fire …thank Goodness for all of you for you quick and prompt service and not making me wait until noon or my husband and I would have lost EVERYTHING today ! 4 animals and most likely my whole home so Thank You from the bottom of my heart !!! My parents in heaven were sure looking down on me today !!

I was seen promptly. Julie and a nurse (sorry, I forgot your name) were first to see me. they were very caring and excellent at their jobs. Dr. McComis came in, tested my leg and foot strength, and we then discussed surgery on my back. Julie gave me the information about prep for my home before surgery and what to do post-surgery. I also got the same packet in the mail so Dr. McComis's office is very thorough.

Great as always... Except for one thing. Can you do something about the freakin gorilla glue bandaids? They do a good job exfoliating my skin but they rip more hair out than radioactive bionic butt wax. There's only a baby mark on my knee from the cortisone but it looks like a rabid gang of sand fleas mowed my leg hair with a wheeless mower. And why is the skin a different color even? Think I'll go with the bloody leg option next time so I can make an interesting story up about the battle I just had. Cheers you hair rippin maniacs!
