Melissa Cooper, PA-C
Melissa Cooper, PA-C is a physician assistant who is board certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. She has been practicing as a physician assistant for nine years, the last 4 of which have been with Dr. David J. Harris. Upon obtaining her Master Degree in Medical Science in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Saint Francis in 2011, she practiced in orthopedic surgery for three years. She then took a position in emergency medicine and urgent care but after a short amount of time realized her passion for orthopaedic surgery. She made the decision to return to orthopaedics and in July 2016 joined Dr. David J. Harris, a top orthopaedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine.
As a physician assistant, Melissa uses her acquired skills and knowledge to provide quality and compassionate care to all the patients she encounters. Not only does she evaluate and treat patients autonomously in office, but she assists Dr. Harris in all aspects of surgery. From office visits, to patient education, to surgical wound closures and hospital rounding, Melissa combines her compassion and knowledge with Dr. Harris’ outstanding surgical and personal skills to make sure the patient has a positive experience with successful outcomes.
Melissa is married and has one fur baby named Diesel. In her free time, Melissa enjoys traveling and has recently travelled to China and multiple destinations in Europe and the US. She also enjoys spending time with her family and spoiling her nephew Bentley. She continues to mentor and provide shadowing experiences for future physician assistants to share not only her knowledge but the passion she has for her profession.
