COVID-19 (coronavirus) TeleMedicines

In recognition of ongoing news reports and the continued spread of the COVID-19 (coronavirus), we realize our patients may have questions.

The use of TeleMedicine will be used if you would like to speak with the doctor or nurse about your condition by phone and prefer not to come into the office with a non-emergent case. All routine visits can be done via TeleMedicine. If you would like to schedule a TeleMedicine visit, please call the office to schedule. We will remain open for all acute and urgent orthopedic conditions including post-operative care, fractures, sprains, and tendon tears/injury that require in person evaluation and treatment.

As of right now, all elective surgeries are cancelled until April 1st, 2020. This date can be extended if governing bodies along with local hospitals and outpatient centers decide it is in the best interest of the public to do so.

The office phones will be answered Monday - Friday. Please feel free to call if you have questions regarding your upcoming appointment, medications, or orthopedic related questions. If you have a pressing orthopedic issue, call the office. If we do not answer or it is after hours, you can speak to a doctor through the answering service, or go to the emergency room. You can also leave a message and we will get back to you within 24 hours.

We continue to ask that anyone with a scheduled appointment that has traveled outside the United States in the past 14 days to please reschedule their appointments. The CDC recommends that patients reschedule their appointments if they have the following symptoms: fever, cough, or shortness of breath. Please seek medical advice from your primary care physician, if you develop any of these symptoms.

We will take every precaution to make sure our patients and staff members remain safe during this time. We are here for you and will answer any questions you may have.

Brian Evanson, MD

Dr. Brian Evanson is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon fellowship trained in the hand and upper extremity. He specializes in hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder surgery.

Dr. Brian Evanson is a respected board certified orthopaedic surgeon who is fellowship trained in hand and upper extremity, making him specialized in hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder injuries, arthritis, disorders and pain. His goal is to listen to the concerns of his patients and establish a treatment plan, either operative or non-operative, that will improve their quality of life and return them to the activities they enjoy. Dr. Evanson believes honesty, good communication, and being personable are the strengths of his practice. He will work to develop a treatment plan grounded solidly in evidence-based medicine.

He enjoys taking care of patients of all ages and treating them through the spectrum of therapy, repair, arthroscopy, or replacement of their hand, wrist, elbow, or shoulder.

Dr. Evanson attended Washington University in St Louis for his undergraduate degree. He then completed his medical school education at Indiana University School of Medicine followed by his orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Toledo, in Ohio. He then pursued his fellowship training in Milwaukee at the Medical College of Wisconsin to further specialize in hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder surgery. Throughout his education he has invested his time into learning the art of medicine and the fine skills of surgery and microsurgery. He is certified in microsurgery, has authored chapters in orthopaedic textbooks as well as multiple peer reviewed articles, and has given numerous presentations both within the academic world and for patients in his local community. He continues to pursue new and cutting-edge technology, remaining up to date on novel treatment options in the field of orthopaedics.

Being a native of Northwest Indiana, Dr. Evanson is excited to be able to help those in the community where he grew up and is now raising his family. He is a graduate of Lake Central High School, where he played soccer and golf. He most recently lived in Minnesota prior to moving back to Indiana. In his free time, he enjoys cheering for the Green Bay Packers, playing as much golf as weather permits, and spending time with his family. Being a dad to four phenomenal kids keeps him busy, but also leaves him grateful. His family is his greatest joy.

Dr. Evanson is excited to be able to give back to the community that gave him so many fond memories. He looks forward to partnering with patients in their health journeys, to get them back to doing what they love most. He is a proud member of North Point Orthopedics and is thrilled to be a part of a team that supports one another as they strive to provide excellent patient care in Northwest Indiana.
